SMSU TRACK AND FIELD: Two Mustangs compete on Day 1 of NSIC Track Championships

DULUTH — The first day of the 2021 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Malosky Stadium is complete as four events of the women’s heptathlon and five events of the men’s decathlon were contested on Thursday afternoon.

SMSU’s Isadora Mickelson competed for the Mustang women’s team earning 2,100 points and is currently in 23rd place. For the SMSU men’s team, Blain Dilly recorded 2,705 points and is currently in 12th place.

Mickelson ran 16.47 in the 100-meter hurdles to place 19th, finished 19th in the shot put at 8.61m, 23rd in the high jump at 1.36m and was 23rd in the 200-meters crossing the line at 29.29.

Dilly finished ninth in the long jump at 6.05m, 12th in the 100-meters at 11.88, 12th in the shot put at 8.75m, 12th in the 400-meters with a time of 54.34 and 13th in the high jump with a mark of 1.51m.

Day 2 of the three-day meet begins today at 9 a.m.
