PREP TRACK AND FIELD: Marshall boys place first, girls second at home invitational

MARSHALL — The Marshall boys and girls track and field team held another home invitational on Monday afternoon, with the boys team placing first and the girls team taking second.

Boys

On the boys side, Marshall took first with a team score of 95, followed by Worthington in second (86), Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda (45) in third and Central Minnesota Christian in fourth (39).

In the 100 meters, Marshall’s Chidi Nwakama took first with a time of 11.92 seconds while Andrew Elton took fifth with a time of 12.77 seconds, Soeka Maw took eighth (13.06), Brandon Simpson took 11th (13.85), Zach Schroeder took 13th (14.33), Nate Panka took 14th (14.35) and William Parks took 16th (15.75). In the 200 meters, Isaac Correa took first for Marshall with a time of 25.14 seconds while Kongmeng Vue took third with a time of 25.46 seconds and Maw took ninth with a time of 26.54 seconds. Simpson took 14th (27.69) while Ayden Doherty took 15th (27.83 seconds), Schroeder took 17th (29.00) and Brayden Thooft took 19th (30.82). In the 400 meters, Hudson Dieken took sixth with a time of 1:02.90, followed by Chase Werner in seventh (1:02.96) and Thooft in eighth (1:03.42).

In the 800 meters, Owen Holmberg took fourth for Marshall with a time of 2:06.89 while Ashton Schnaser took seventh with a time of 2:16.67 and Jordan Duscher took 12th with a time of 2:40.45. In the 1,600 meters, Eli Salisbury and Holmberg took the top two spots with times of 4:31.91 and 4:42.66, respectively, while Schnaser took fifth (4:54.20), Sam Deutz took sixth (4:54.24), Daniel Olin took eighth (5:08.10) and Landon Wherry took ninth (5:11.65). In the 110-meter hurdles, DeMario Gaines took first with a time of 16.89 seconds, while Bryant Paulsen took first in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 44.48 seconds and Austin Dunn took fourth with a time of 53.68 seconds.

In the 4×100-meter relay, the Marshall team of Correa, Bryan Esparza, Keaton Runia and Martin Krenz took second with a time of 49.73 seconds while the team of Jaden Deines, Carter Versaevel, Esparza and Vue took second with a time of 1:43.73 in the 4×200-meter relay. In the 4×800-meter relay, the team of Aidan Rosenboom, Dunn, Werner and Dieken took second with a time of 9:45.54.

In the shotput, Marshall’s Eduardo Garcia took third with a throw of 36-11 while Gabe Sherman took fifth with a throw of 35-08, Evan Schotzco took seventh (33-07), Adam Meyer took eighth (33-06.50), Tate Condezo took 13th (30-00), Jacob Zimmer took 16th (28-08) and Garrett Maes took 18th (21-08.50). In discus, Sherman (109-02.50), Garcia (105-05) and Schotzco (104-01.50) took the second through fourth spots, respectively, while Meyer took 11th (86-09), Zimmer took 15th (67-01.50) and Maes took 17th (64-08).

In high jump, Gaines took first with a height of 6-00 while Paulsen took third with a height of 5-10 and Panka took ninth with a height of 4-06. In pole vault, Elijah Bader took first with a height of 10-00 while Condezo took fourth (8-00) and Dunn took fifth (7-06). In long jump, Elton took second with a distance of 19-04.75 while Vue took fourth (19-03.25), Nwakama took sixth (17-02.75), Krenz took eighth (16-11) and Deines took ninth (16-10.75). Finally, in triple jump, Elton took fourth with a leap of 39-01.50 while Paulsen took fifth (37-01.50), Deines took seventh (36-01.75), Versaevel took eighth (29-10.25) and Rosenboom took ninth (26-05.75) to round out their scores.

Girls

On the girls side, Marshall took second with a team score of 79. Worthington took first with a score of 85, followed by HLO/Fulda in third (52) and CMCS in fourth (40).

In the 100 meters, Averi Schneider took fifth for Marshall with a time of 14.13 seconds while Peyton Boeck took ninth with a time of 14.88 seconds, Ana Wambeke took 13th (16.18), Jada Cauwles took 15th (16.70) and Samantha Chavez took 18th (17.27). In the 200 meters, Alexi Schneider took fourth with a time of 29.66 seconds while Averi Schneider took fifth (29.81), Kaylee VanHauwaert took seventh (30.22) and Chavez took 23rd (35.58). In the 400 meters, Danya Estrada took first with a time of 59.81 seconds while Jersey Leysen took fifth (1:09.29), Brooke Gillingham took sixth (1:09.50), Gracelyn Foster took eighth (1:11.33), Anna Kuecker took 10th (1:13.69), Avery Fahl took 12th (1:14.24) and Olivia Kisner took 17th (1:20.49). In the 800 meters, Delaney Dieken took fourth with a time of 2:50.13 while Bella Peutz took fifth (2:52.83) and Elise Goode took eighth (2:58.51).

In the 1,600 meters, Bellamy Sukalski took first for Marshall with a time of 5:31.56. In the 100-meter hurdles, Alexi Schneider took third with a time of 20.02 seconds while Lindsey Hart took fourth (21.32) and Katherine Prahl took sixth (23.02). In the 300-meter hurdles, Ava Holmgren took third with a time of 54.77 seconds while Beret Pedersen (57.22), Morgan Hart (58.92) and Prahl (1:04.00) took the fifth through seventh spots, respectively.

In the 4×100-meter relay, the team of Averi Schneider, Alexi Schneider, Leah Matzner and Brianna Simpson took third with a time of 54.10 seconds. In the 4×200-meter relay, the team of Alexi Schneider, Matzner, Lauran Carver and Simpson took second with a time of 1:57.78 while the team of Emily Hernandez, Brooke Gillingham, Fahl and Autumn Deutz took fourth with a time of 2:04.84. In the 4×400-meter relay, the team of Boeck, Anna DeGroot, Taliegha Bigler and Miracle Tucker took first with a time of 4:21.46. In the 4×800-meter relay, the team of Sukalski, Estrada, Allyson Sample and Tucker placed first with a time of 9:43.42 while the team of DeGroot, Bigler, Foster and Leysen took third with a time of 10:36.81.

In shotput, Abby Panka took first with a throw of 28-07.50 while VanHauwaert took third with a throw of 24-04.00, Gillingham took sixth with a throw of 22-07.00, Carver took seventh (22-00.00), Jamileth Hernandez took 10th (16-08.50) and Keziah Kelsey took 11th (15-05.00). In discus, Gillingham took third with a throw of 64-06 while VanHauwaert (52-04.50), Kelsey (39-04) and Jamileth Hernandez (27-10.50) took the sixth through eighth spots, respectively.

In high jump, Holmgren took second with a height of 4-11 while Matzner took third (4-08), Boeck took sixth (4-06), Panka took seventh (4-06), Lindsey Hart took eighth (4-04) and Fahl took ninth (4-02). In pole vault, Deutz took first with a height of 7-06 while VanHauwaert took fifth (6-06), Dieken took sixth (6-06), Lindsey Hart took eighth (5-06) and Wambeke took 10th (5-06). In long jump, Averi Schneider took third with a distance of 14-11 while Madelyn Murphy took sixth (13-08.75) and Morgan Hart took ninth (13-03.75). Finally, in triple jump, Boeck took third with a distance of 31-06.25 while Morgan Hart took sixth (30-01.00) and Panka took eighth (27-10.25) to round out their scores.
