PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Marshall baseball slips past Worthington, 6-5

WORTHINGTON — The Marshall baseball team defeated Worthington 6-5 on Tuesday.

Josh Baker led Marshall with four hits while Charlie Jacobson added two hits and two RBI and AJ Toulouse and Jack Bly each had a hit and an RBI.

Bly earned the start, going two innings while allowing two runs on three hits and struck out two. Jacob Eben tossed an inning, allowing three runs on three hits and struck out one and Mitchell Bouwman got the win in relief, going four innings while giving up four hits and no runs and struck out four.

Marshall (6-2) will face Fairmont at home on Friday in a doubleheader at 4 p.m.

RTR 2, Lakeview 0

COTTONWOOD –The Russell-Tyler-Ruthton baseball team defeated Lakeview 2-0 on Tuesday.

Cody Wichmann led RTR with two hits and two RBI while Aiden Wichmann added a hit. Cody Wichmann also earned the victory on the mound, going 6 1/3 innings while allowing no runs on two hits and struck out 13.

Brock Kvistad led Lakeview with two hits.

RTR (6-3) will face LQPV on the road on Friday at 5 p.m. while Lakeview (2-7) will face RCW at home on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

YME 4, CMCS 3

GRANITE FALLS — The Yellow Medicine East baseball team defeated Central Minnesota Christian 4-3 in 11 innings on Tuesday.

Cody Dahlager led YME with three hits and an RBI while Caleb Jans had a hit and an RBI and Cole Fischer added an RBI.

Jans earned the start on the mound, going six innings while allowing three runs on five hits and struck out four. Nikson Knapper got the victory in relief, tossing the final five innings and giving up just three hits and struck out eight.

YME (7-2) will face RCW on the road on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

MLA Invite (Day 2)

MOUNTAIN LAKE — Multiple area boys and girls golf teams competed in the second leg of a Mountain Lake meet on Tuesday.

On the girls side, Westbrook-Walnut Grove shot a team score of 433 (445 in Day 1) for a two-day total of 878 to place third while Murray County Central had a score of 477 (473 in Day 1) for a two-day total of 950 to place fifth and Red Rock Central had a score of 496 (503 in Day 1) for a two-day total of 999.

For WWG, Lexi Herding led with a 96 while Emma Wahl had a 108, Ivy Paplow had a 109 and Madison Martin had a 120.

For MCC, Ciera Tutt led with a score of 103 while Elie Meyer had a 121, Karlie Schuur had a 122 and Ava Johnson and Symone Harms tied with scores of 131. Rachael Huso had a 157 to round out their scores.

For RRC, Carlee Sell led with a score of 111 while Bailey Timm had a 112, Lexi Weber had a 121 and Aryanna Weber had a 152.

On the boys side, RRC had a team score of 428 (405 in Day 1) for a two-day total of 833 to place fourth while WWG had a score of 398 (416 in Day 1) for a two-day total of 814 and MCC had a score of 404 (443 in Day 1) for a two-day total of 847.

For RRC, Mason Gode led with a score of 91 while Matthew Horning had a 110, Damian Osland had a 112 and Damon Holmen had a 115.

For WWG, Brady Ross and Hunter Lien led with a score of 95 each while Kole Curry had a 101 and Nathan Kuehl had a 107. Neil Kuehl added a score of 112 while Aiden Mumm had a 122.

For MCC, Dawson Tutt led with an 89 while McKade Gillette had a 94, Trey Veldhuisen had a 98. Logan Mihin, Talan Felber and Alex Santay all had scores of 157, 130 and 123, respectively, to round out their scoring.

SANBORN — The Wabasso boys and girls golf teams faced Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart in a dual on Tuesday, with the boys team defeating BLHS 190-214 and both girls teams recording incomplete team scores.

On the boys side, Jayden Carlson led with a 44 while Will Carlson had a 46 and Jayden Goblish and Ashton Thein each had 50. Spencer Rohlik and Jamison Rohlik each had a 67 to round out their score.

On the girls side, Chloe Rohlik led Wabasso with a 62 while Jocelyn Jenniges had a 70.

Wabasso will compete next on Thursday against Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s at 4:30 p.m.
