PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Lakeview softball earns doubleheader sweep against RCW

COTTONWOOD — The Lakeview softball team defeated Renville County West in a doubleheader on Thursday, winning game one 9-6 and game two 16-12.

In game one, Kaitlynn Bot led Lakeview with four hits and four RBI while Natasha Blomme added three hits and Grace Rausch, McKenzy Grunewald, Aubreigh Rausch and Paige Kvendru each had two hits, with Grunewald and Kvendru each recording an RBI.

Bot also earned the win in the circle, going seven innings while allowing six runs on seven hits and struck out five.

In game two, Bot led Lakeview with three hits and three RBI while Grace Rausch added three hits and two RBI and Grunewald, Blomme and Olivia Hinz each had two hits and combined for four RBI.

Bot also earned the win in relief, going 5 1/3 innings while allowing six runs on seven hits and struck out two. Grace Rausch threw the first 1 2/3 innings, giving up six runs on two hits.

Lakeview (4-6) will face MACCRAY at home today at 4:30 p.m. in a doubleheader.

LQPV 1, RTR 0 (Game 1)

TYLER — The Russell-Tyler-Ruthton softball team split a pair of games against Lac qui Parle Valley on Thursday, falling in the first game 1-0 before winning game two 8-2.

In game one, RTR didn’t record a hit on offense. Kya Alderson took the loss in the circle, going seven innings while allowing one run on two hits and struck out 12.

In game two, Cora Alderson led RTR with three hits and an RBI while Kya Alderson added two hits and two RBI and Kiley Griesse had a hit and an RBI. Kya Alderson earned the win in the circle, going seven innings while allowing two runs on five hits and struck out two.

RTR (8-3) will face LQPV on the road today at 4:30 p.m.

WABASSO — The Wabasso softball team earned a doubleheader split against Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Thursday, winning game one 3-1 before falling in game two 12-4.

In game one, Kylee Fogelson led Wabasso with a hit and an RBI while Madeline Hanna and Kelsey Fischer each had a hit. Sarah Franta earned the win in the circle, allowing just one run on one hit.

In game two, Avery Carlson led Wabasso with two hits and two RBI while Franta added two hits and Sophia Hanna, Kelsey Frank and Madeline Hanna each had a hit.

Wabasso (6-7) will face GFW on the road on Monday at 5 p.m.

Prep baseball

YME 14, RCW 2

RENVILLE — The Yellow Medicine East baseball team defeated Renville County West 14-2 on Thursday.

Cody Dahlager led YME with four hits and six RBI while Ty Schulte added two hits and three RBI and Nikson Knapper had four hits and an RBI. Schulte earned the victory on the mound, going five innings while allowing two runs on five hits and struck out four.

YME (8-2) will face TMB on the road today at 4:30 p.m.

RRC Invite

SANBORN — Multiple area teams competed in the Red Rock Central invite on Thursday. On the boys side, RRC took first with a team score of 199 while Wabasso took second (205) and Tracy-Milroy-Balaton recorded an incomplete team score. On the girls side, RRC took first with a team score of 252 while Wabasso recorded an incomplete team score.

On the boys side, for RRC, Justin Klabunde led with a score of 42 while Mason Gode and Matthew Horning each had a 52 and Damian Osland had a 53. Damon Holman had a 59 and Keagan Steen had a 61 to round out their scores.

For Wabasso, Jayden Goblish and Jayden Carlson led with 48 each while Aidan Lanoue had a 52 and Boston Brand had a 57. Spencer Rohlik had a 60 and Jamison Rohlik had a 74 to round out their scores.

For TMB, Alex Munson was the lone golfer, shooting a 54.

On the girls side, for RRC, Carlee Sell led with a 54 while Baily Timm had a 60, Alexis Weber had a 61 and Aryanna Weber had a 77 to round out their scores.

For Wabasso, Chloe Rohlik led with a 57 while Jocelyn Jenniges had a 62.

Wabasso will compete next on Monday at 10 a.m. while RRC will compete today in Marshall at 4:30 p.m. and TMB will compete today at home at 4:30 p.m.
