SMSU GOLF: Mustangs rally to win dual over MSU
MANKATO – Hannah Kohls shot a seven-over-par 78, the lowest round of the day, to capture medalist honors and lead Southwest Minnesota State to a dual match victory over Minnesota State at two-day, 36-hole Mustang/Maverick Dual, which concluded play on Friday at the par-71 Mankato Golf Club.
The first 18 holes of the dual were held on Thursday at the par-72 Marshall Golf Club with MSU holding a three-shot, 318-321 advantage.
SMSU shot a score of 332 on Friday, while MSU carded a score of 341, as the Mustangs rallied back to win the dual by a score of 653 to 659.
Kohls finished the two-day event with a 10-over 153, finishing two shots ahead of MSU’s Alissa Carlson and Madi McGinty.
SMSU’s Jacqueline Gossen placed fifth overall at 22-over 165 (80-85), with teammates Anneke Weg (81-86–166, +23) and Sally Gallagher (85-84–169, +26) finishing in sixth and seventh place, respectively. Lauryn Driscoll finished tied for ninth with a score of 29-over 172 (85-87).
SMSU had three players compete as individuals with Natalie Bohnert shooting 32-over 175 (89-86), Ashley Trongard (81-102) at 40-over 183, with Sydney Noel carding a 41-over 184 (95-89).
Southwest Minnesota State will return to action on April 17-18 at the Augustana Invite at Elmwood Golf Course in Sioux Falls, S.D.
