PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: TMB boys basketball falls to WWG, 55-46

TRACY — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton boys basketball team fell to Westbrook-Walnut Grove 55-46 on Saturday.

Tony Nelson led TMB with 18 points while Noah Swenhaugen added nine and Jake Turner had seven. Nelson led in rebounds with 11 while Trevor Smith led in assists with four.

Hunter Lien led WWG with 19 points while Ethan Mischke added 15 and Nathan Kuehl had eight. Kuehl also led in rebounds with nine and in assists with three.

TMB (9-7) will face Minneota on the road today at 7:15 p.m. while WWG (13-3) will face HLO/Fulda on the road today at 7:15 p.m.

SWC 67, MCC 52

SLAYTON — The Murray County Central boys basketball team fell to Southwest Minnesota Christian 67-52 on Saturday.

Blake Schmitz led MCC with 13 points while Nate Kleven added 12 and Chant Mitchell had nine. Kleven led in rebounds with 11 while Schmitz led in assists with four.

MCC (8-6) will face RRC at home today at 7:15 p.m.

Girls basketball

Minneota 88,

DB 16

DAWSON — The Minneota girls basketball team defeated Dawson-Boyd 88-16 on Saturday.

Abby Hennen led Minneota with 24 points while Natalee Rolbiecki added 20 and McKenna Yost and Abby Rost each had eight. Abby Hennen and Abby Rost led in rebounds with seven each while Yost and Abby Rost led in assists with five each.

Allison Estling led DB with seven points while Laney Bartunek added four, Ella Johnson had three and Kate Dahl had two. Johnson and Rachael Lund led in rebounds with three each while Chelsie Husby and Johnson led in assists with one each.

Minneota (15-0) will face LQPV on the road on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. while DB (1-14) will face KMS at home today at 7:15 p.m.

KMS 59, YME 54

KERKHOVEN — The Yellow Medicine East girls basketball team fell to Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 59-54 on Saturday.

Ruby Bones led YME with eight points while Stella Schuler and Hannah Stark each added seven and Madelynn Luft had five. Shelby Mortenson led in rebounds with 11 while Schuler and Brylea Ruff led in assists with two each.

YME (2-13) will face Montevideo at home on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

Wrestling

Benson triangular

BENSON — The Dawson-Boyd/Lac qui Parle/Montevideo United wrestling team earned a pair of victories at the Benson triangular on Saturday, defeating Benson 48-30 and Albany 36-33.

Against Benson, Daniel Gunlogson, Kameron Sather, Tyler Schickedanz and Kadin Huntley won by fall, Ethan Moravetz and Trey Teichert won by forfeit and Zander Clausen, Dain Mortenson and Avery Wittnebel won by major decision for United.

Against Albany, Sather, Gunlogson, Mortenson, Nolan Kwilinski and Landon Olson won by fall while Teichert won by forfeit for United.

United will compete next in the Section 3AA tournament against Marshall at 6 p.m. on Thursday at New London-Spicer.

Worthington

triangular

WORTHINGTON — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove wrestling team dropped a pair of duals at the Worthington triangular on Saturday, falling to Hutchinson 33-31 and Worthington 38-37. TMB/WWG and Worthington were tied at 37 after 285 pounds, but Worthington won the tiebreaker via the criteria of winning more forfeits.

Against Hutchinson, Devin Carter, Caden Johnson and Nic Willhite won by fall, David Schuh won by decision, Ayden Horner won by major decision and Gabe Krick won by forfeit for TMB/WWG.

Against Worthington, Linkoln Carlson won by major decision, Carter, Alexander Schuh, Horner, Jayden Torgeson and Nic Willhite won by fall and Johnson won by decision for TMB/WWG.

TMB/WWG will face the winner of No. 5 Pipestone Area or No. 12 St. James Area in the Section 3A tournament on Thursday at 6 p.m. in Jackson.

Friday

Boys basketball

RTR 68, Canby 53

TYLER — The Canby boys basketball team fell to Russell-Tyler-Ruthton 68-53 on Friday.

Will Varcoe led Canby with 21 points while Ty Stoks added 12 and Trevor Gray had seven. Varcoe led in rebounds with 10 while Stoks and Varcoe led in assists with two each.

Darrick Baartman led RTR with 21 points while Cody Wichmann added 14 and Aiden Wichmann and Dylan Anderson each had nine. Baartman led in rebounds with six while Cody Wichmann led in steals with five.

Canby (2-13) will face Ortonville on the road on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. while RTR (10-5) will face TMB at home on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

Girls basketball

TMB 83, RTR 65

TRACY — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton girls basketball team defeated Russell-Tyler-Ruthton 83-65 on Friday.

Jordan Munson and Camille Dolan led TMB with 16 points each while Margaret Dolan added 15 and Kiarra Danielson and Lauren Zick each had eight. Margaret Dolan led in rebounds with six while Munson and Maddi Langerock led in assists with three each.

Alexis Schreurs and Haley Muenchow led RTR with 16 points each while Allie Christianson added 14. Muenchow led in rebounds with 13 while Skylar Borresen led in assists with three.

TMB (11-4) will face MACCRAY at home today at 7:15 p.m. while RTR (7-7) will face Lakeview at home today at 7:15 p.m.
