PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Lakeview cruises by KMS, 59-39

KERKHOVEN — The Lakeview girls basketball team defeated Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 59-39 on Monday.

Aubrey Kaczmarek led Lakeview with 19 points while Shelby Gravely added 15 and Kaitlynn Bot had nine. Gravley led in rebounds with 12 while Kiana Imes led in assists with six.

Lakeview (2-0) will face LQPV on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

TMB 67, DB 12

DAWSON — The Dawson-Boyd girls basketball team fell to Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 67-12 on Monday.

Paige Conover led DB with five points while Laney Bartunek added three and Rachael Lund and Chelsie Husby each had two. Husby led in rebounds with six while Conover, Lund and Husby led in assists with one each.

Lauren Zick led TMB with 13 points while Jordan Munson added 12 and Maddi Langerock, Kiarra Danielson and Margaret Dolan each recorded six. Kiana Benson led in rebounds with six while Jasmine Timmerman led in assists with two.

TMB (1-0) will face KMS on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. while DB (0-2) will face RTR on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

LQPV 58, Canby 47

MADISON — The Canby girls basketball team fell to Lac qui Parle Valley 58-47 in its season opener on Monday.

Hannah Jelen led Canby with 21 points while Jayla Hulzebos added nine and Camryn Ufkin had five. Maya Wente led in rebounds with 14 while Aidyn Bruns led in assists with five.

Canby (0-1) will face MACCRAY on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

REDWOOD FALLS — The Marshall wrestling team opened its season with a pair of wins on Saturday, defeating Redwood Valley 44-34 and St. Peter 39-33.

Against Redwood Valley, Drew Chandler and Noah Blomme won by major decision while Aiden Mattison, Dylan Louwagie, Brett Regnier, Tate Condezo and Lucas Stelter won by fall and Grant Louwagie won by forfeit for Marshall.

Against St. Peter, Landon Marthaler, Chandler, Dylan Louwagie, Condezo and Kaiden Otto won by fall while Gavin Schaefer won by decision and Grant Louwagie won by forfeit for Marshall.

Marshall will compete on Thursday at 5 p.m. against Minneota and Morris Area.

Minneota triangular

MINNEOTA — The Minneota, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove and Fulda/MCC wrestling teams all opened their seasons with a triangular meet on Saturday. Minneota defeated TMB/WWG 47-24 and Fulda/MCC 70-6 while TMB/WWG defeated Fulda/MCC 81-0.

For Minneota, against TMB/WWG, Destin Fier, Peyton Gillund, Eli Gruenes, Zack Fier, Jonah Gruenes and Hudson Scholten all won by fall while Eric Carrasco won by technical fall and Alex Depestel and Jackson Esping won by decision. For TMB/WWG, Lincoln Carlson and Ayden Horner won by decision while Devin Carter, Caden Johnson and Eathan Martinez won by fall.

Against Fulda/MCC, Adam DeVlaeminck, Destin Fier, Chase Johnson, Gillund, Kade Lozinski, Zack Fier, Depestel, Jonah Gruenes, Scholten and Esping all won by fall for Minneota while Carrasco and Eli Gruenes won by technical fall. Christian Kuball earned a pin for the lone points for Fulda/MCC.

For TMB/WWG, against Fulda/MCC, Carlson, David Schuh, Alexander Schuh, Jeret Ankrum, Ashton Squires, Horner, Jayden Torgeson, Noah Ortiz, Johnson, Martinez and Travis Willhite all won by fall while Carter and Nic Willhite won by forfeit and Gabe Krick won by decision.

Minneota will compete on Thursday at 5 p.m. against Marshall and Morris Area while TMB/WWG will compete on Thursday at 5 p.m. against Fulda/MCC and Luverne.

Wabasso 34

WABASSO — The Canby wrestling team defeated Wabasso 40-34 in its season opener on Saturday.

For Canby, Eli Greenman, Nick Wagner, Lane Fink, Josh Steffen, Gavin Noyes and Shane Noyes all won by fall while Lincoln Fink won by major decision.

For Wabasso, Mikale Goblirsch and Preston Remiger won by forfeit while Chase Irlbeck and Ty Altermatt won by fall, Ashton Weidemann won by major decision and Carter Benz and Tyler Bliss won by decision.

Canby will compete on Thursday at 5 p.m. against Eden Valley-Watkins while Wabasso will compete today at 5 p.m. against Paynesville Area.

Boys basketball

RCW 70, Canby 47

CANBY — The Canby boys basketball team fell to Renville County West 70-47 in its season opener on Saturday.

Michael Tol led Canby with 11 points while Ty Stoks added 10 and Trevor Gray and Will Varcoe each had eight. Varcoe led in rebounds with seven while Stoks led in assists with three.

Canby (0-1) will face CMCS today at 7:15 p.m.

WWG 59,

Adrian/Ellsworth 44

ADRIAN — The Westbrook-Walnut Grove boys basketball team defeated Adrian/Ellsworth 59-44 in its season opener on Saturday.

Hunter Lien led WWG with 17 points while Ethan Mischke added 14 and Nathan Kuehl had 13. Mischke and Kuehl led in rebounds with 11 each while Mischke led in assists with seven.

WWG (1-0) will face SWC today at 7:15 p.m.

Girls basketball

Lakeview 69, DB 19

COTTONWOOD — The Lakeview girls basketball team defeated Dawson-Boyd 69-19 in its season opener on Saturday.

Shelby Gravely led Lakeview with 16 points while Aubrey Kaczmarek added 14 and Kiana Imes had nine. Kaczmarek led in rebounds with 11 while Imes led in assists with six.

Chelsie Husby led DB with eight points while Allison Estling added four. Laney Bartunek led in rebounds with three while Rachael Lund led in assists with two.
