SPRINGFIELD — The Murray County Central football team defeated Springfield 30-23 on Friday.

Dylan Johnson ran for 149 yards on 31 carries and two touchdowns while Blake Schmitz completed 11 of his 20 pass attempts for 85 yards and a pair of scores and added 70 yards on the ground. Chant Mitchell had 33 yards receiving while Dawson Tutt added 26 yards and a touchdown and Carter Benda had 16 yards and a score.

Defensively, Kevin Garcia and Nate Kleven had three total tackles each for MCC.

MCC (5-0) will face New Ulm Cathedral on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Wabasso 38, TMB 20

WABASSO — The Wabasso football team defeated Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 38-20 on Friday.

For Wabasso, Carter Benz completed 6 of his 17 pass attempts for 170 yards and two touchdowns and had 51 yards on the ground and two more scores while Nick Marotzke added 82 rushing yards and two scores. Will Carlson hauled in four catches for 122 yards.

Defensively, Marotzke recorded 7.5 total tackles while Benz added 6.5 total tackles.

For TMB, Ayden Horner ran for 188 yards and two touchdowns while Noah Swenhaugen completed 6 of his 8 pass attempts for 85 yards and a touchdown and added 26 yards on the ground. Andrew LaVoy also hauled in a 46-yard touchdown reception.

Defensively, Nathan Fultz recorded 6.5 total tackles while Caden Anderson added four total tackles.

Wabasso (4-1) will face Adrian on Thursday at 7 p.m. while TMB (3-2) will face Springfield on Thursday at 7 p.m.
