Marshall tennis gets tripped up by St. James Area, 6-1

ST. JAMES — The Marshall girls tennis team fell to St. James Area 6-1 on Thursday.

St. James won all four singles matches and two doubles matches to earn the victory. At No. 1 singles, Gionna Parsa fell to St. James’ Ellie Becker 6-1, 6-3 while Eden Knudson fell to St. James’ Jaelyn Haler 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot. At No. 3 singles, Leah Matzner fell to St. James’ Mya Hanson 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 while Mariah Bergjord fell to St. James’ Eva Romsdahl 7-5, 6-2 at the No. 4 spot.

In doubles action, the Marshall duo of Leah Schaefer and Regan Loft fell to St. James’ Gabby Trapero and Sailor Mohlenbrock 6-4, 6-7, 10-5 at the No. 1 spot while Kayla Polejewski and Dani Ewing fell to St. James’ Samantha Tetzloff and Allison Bluedorn 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot. Marshall’s Aubrey Bjella and Mackenna Eickhoff defeated St. James’ Emma Anderson and Sofia Solorzano 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 at the No. 3 spot for its lone point.

Marshall will face Redwood Valley on Sept. 8 at 4:30 p.m.
