Marshall tennis falls to Luverne 5-2

MARSHALL — The Marshall girls tennis team fell to Luverne 5-2 on Thursday.

Luverne took three of the four singles matches and two of the three doubles matches to earn the victory.

At No. 1 singles, Gionna Parsa defeated Luverne’s Roz Oye 7-6, 6-2 while Luverne’s Elise Jarchow defeated Eden Knudson 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot. Luverne’s Ainslie Robinson defeated Mariah Bergjord 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 3 spot while Luverne’s Mia Wenzel defeated Regan Loft 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 4 spot.

In doubles action, Luverne’s Lauren Versteeg and Liz Kelm defeated Leah Schaefer and Leah Matzner 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot while Luverne’s Olivia Wieneke and Jacey Smith defeated Kayla Polejewski and Dani Ewing 6-4, 7-5 at the No. 2 spot. At No. 3 doubles, Aubrey Bjella and Mackenna Eickhoff defeated Luverne’s Hope Thorson and Kristin Rud 6-1, 6-2.

Marshall will face Luverne again on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
