Canby/Minneota earns sweep at Lakeview Invite

COTTONWOOD — Multiple area cross country teams got their seasons underway on Tuesday at the Lakeview Invite at Cottonwood Country Club. Canby/Minneota was able to start the year in strong fashion, earning first-place finishes on both the boys (27 points) and girls (34 points) sides. Ortonville took second on the boys side with a team score of 29, followed by Yellow Medicine East in third (68) and MACCRAY/Renville County West in fourth (96). YME took second on the girls side with a score of 38 while Lakeview took third (50).

Boys

For Canby/Minneota, Blake Stoks and Kolton Duis earned the top two placements with times of 18:11 and 18:36, respectively. Zach Ourada took sixth with a time of 19:42 while Blake Giese took ninth with a time of 20:08 and Colton Ruether took 12th with a time of 21:05. Caleb Danielson took 20th with a time of 22:53 while Nicholas Full took 24th (23:52) and Joseph Wollum took 26th (24:26) to round out their times.

For Yellow Medicine East, Tyler Syring led the way with an 11th-place time of 21:04, followed by Caleb Jans (22:04), Silas Ramirez (22:27), Ean Clarke (22:34) and Luis Guzman (22:49) in the 15th-18th spots. Derrick Lien took 30th (29:08) to round out their times.

For Lakeview, Ethan Schwankl led the way with a fourth-place time of 18:48 while Cole Arends took 14th with a time of 21:39 and Cole Remiger took 21st with a time of 23:24 to round out their times.

Girls

For Canby/Minneota, Claire Stoks led the way with a second-place time of 20:53, followed by Braelyn Merritt in third (22:06) and McKenzie Ruether in fourth (22:33). Rachel Wollum took 17th with a time of 29:45 and Isabel Thompson took 21st with a time of 34:01 to round out their times.

For YME, Kylie Knollenberg led the way with a seventh-place time of 24:16 while Hannah Stark took ninth with a time of 24:44 and Ruby Bones took 12th with a time of 27:08. Sanjana Pullan took 14th with a time of 27:59 while Brylea Ruff-mulligan took 16th with a time of 29:35, Anjali Pullan took 19th with a time of 32:04 and Violet Anderson took 22nd with a time of 35:09 to round out their times.

For Lakeview, Sadie Vlaminck led the way with a fifth-place time of 23:32 while Erin Meyer took 13th with a time of 27:57 and Faith Louwagie took 15th with a time of 28:12. Savanna Louwagie took 18th with a time of 30:17 while Lucee Olson took 20th with a time of 33:17 to round out their times.

Canby/Minneota, YME and Lakeview will all compete next on Sept. 10 at the YME Invite at 4:30 p.m.
