SMSU women’s golf honored once again for success in the classroom

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — The 2019-20 Southwest Minnesota State University women’s golf team was named a Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-Scholar Team on Monday for having one of the top cumulative team grade point averages in NCAA Division II this past season.

SMSU finished the 2019-20 academic year with a team GPA of 3.673, ranking as the 21st highest in Division II. Team members included Natalie Bohnert, Courtni Frank, Sally Gallagher, Hannah Kohls, Sydney Noel and Anneke Weg.

Last month, Weg, a sophomore, along with freshmen Gallagher and Noel were honored by the WGCA for success in the classroom earning WGCA All-American Scholar Team accolades for maintaining a GPA over 3.50.

The Women’s Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women’s collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition.

Today, the WGCA represents over 650 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
