Area amateur baseball teams receive playoff seedings
MARSHALL — The playoff seedings for the First Nite and Gopher League in amateur baseball were announced over the weekend.
The top two seeds, Fairmont and Luverne, earned a first-round bye. Windom earned the No. 2 seed in the First Nite League and will face the seventh seed in the Gopher League, Ruthton, in a best-of-three series beginning on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Windom. Jackson earned the No. 3 seed in the First Nite League and will face the sixth seed in the Gopher League, Tracy, in a best-of-three series beginning on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Jackson.
The fourth seed in the First Nite League was given to Lakefield, who will face the fifth seed in the Gopher League, Pipestone, in a best-of-three series beginning on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Lakefield. Heron Lake earned the No. 5 seed in the First Nite League and will face the fourth seed in the Gopher League, Adrian, in a best-of-three series beginning Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Adrian.
Mountain Lake earned the No. 6 seed in the First Nite League and will face the third seed in the Gopher League, Hadley, in a best-of-three series beginning Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in St. James. Finally, Worthington earned the No. 7 seed in the First Nite League and will face the second seed in the Gopher League, the Milroy Irish, in a best-of-three series beginning Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Milroy.
