WASECA — The Marshall 12U girls hockey season came to an end over the weekend, with the Tigers taking fourth place at the Regional tournament in Waseca.

On Friday, Marshall started out taking on Owatonna, defeating them 7-0. Starting out scoring was Olivia Lupkes off an assist from Olivia DeGroot. Continuing the scoring for the Tigers were Lupkes (3), Abbey Foley and Aubree Metheny (3). Assists were from Aubree Metheny, Piper Mellenthin, Abbey Foley (2), Emma Kolander and Olivia DeGroot (2).

The win Friday night had Marshall then take on Hutchinson Saturday. It was a tight game, with the score tied at 0-0 after regulation. In overtime, Hutchinson scored five minutes into the frame, but the Tigers weren’t done yet in the tournament.

On Saturday evening, they had to take on the Luverne Cardinals. The Cardinals started off the scoring, but shortly after that Kendal Beernaert answered back by putting the Tigers on the board. It was a back and forth game, but the Tigers hung on by outscoring Luverne 3-2. Helping the Tigers in scoring were Mia Wichmann and Mady Girard.

With Marshall in the Final Four, it took on Dodge County on Sunday. Marshall came out strong, as Olivia Lupkes scored on an assist from Piper Mellenthin, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough and the Tigers fell 2-1.

Belle Deutz was in net the entire weekend with a total of 83 saves.

Marshall 12U ended its season with a record of 30-6-1.
