SMSU TRACK AND FIELD: SMSU’s Rebecca Manteuffel qualifies for NCAA Indoor Championships

INDIANAPOLIS –Southwest Minnesota State University junior Rebecca Manteuffel officially qualified in the weight throw for the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships set for March 13-14 in Birmingham, Ala., the NCAA announced on Tuesday.

The NCAA Indoor Championships will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex and hosted by the University of Montevallo and the city of Birmingham. Manteuffel will compete at the championship on Friday, March 13, at 4:30 p.m. CDT.

Manteuffel, a native of Cologne, has qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships for the second straight season. A season ago, she was the first-ever SMSU female track student-athlete to qualify for the indoor championships, where she finished 17th in the weight throw with a toss of 16.34m.

Manteuffel qualified for this season’s NCAA Indoor Championships with a school record toss of 18.86 meters at the Minnesota State Mark Schuck Open on Jan. 31. Her throw enters the NCAA Championship ranked 10th nationally.

Manteuffel is a two-time NCAA Outdoor national qualifier. She placed 18th place in the discus at 2018 championships, while earning All-American honors last season with an eighth place finish in the discus. She also finished 21st in the shot put at last season’s championships.

Manteuffel is a 2017 graduate of Mayer Lutheran High School.
