SMSU GOLF: SMSU returns to action in Arizona next week
MARSHALL — The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s golf team returns to action next week to open the 2020 spring season with a pair of tournaments during its spring trip to Arizona.
SMSU will first compete serving as the host school for the seven-team, 36-hole SMSU Invite on March 9-10 at the Wigwam Resort Red Course in Litchfield Park. Schools competing include Bemidji State, Lindenwood (Mo.), MSU Moorhead, Nebraska-Kearney, Rockhurst (Mo.) and Western New Mexico. Tee times on both days will begin at 9:24 a.m. CDT.
On March 12-13, SMSU will host the five-team, 36-hole, SMSU Challenge at Coldwater Golf Club in Avondale. Schools joining SMSU include Bemidji State, Minnesota Crookston, Ottawa (Ariz.) and Rockhurst. Play begins both days at 10:04 a.m. CDT.
SMSU last competed at the Midwest Classic on Oct. 7-8, 2019, in Warrensburg, Mo.
Junior Hannah Kohls leads SMSU with an 80.9 stroke average in 10 rounds, while sophomore Anneke Weg has an 84.4 average in nine rounds.
