PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Dawson-Boyd falls to MACCRAY in section tournament opener

CLARA CITY — The No. 9 Dawson-Boyd girls basketball team fell to No. 8 MACCRAY 63-46 in the Section 3A tournament on Thursday.

Avery Bartunek led the way for Dawson-Boyd with 17 points while Laney Bartunek added 12 and Amelia Olson had 11. Avery Bartunek led in rebounds with 12 while her and Olson led in assists with six each.

Dawson-Boyd ends its season with a 1-23 record and graduates two seniors in Avery Bartunek and Olson.

SLAYTON — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton boys basketball team defeated Murray County Central 67-60 on Thursday.

Trevor Larson led the way for the Panthers with 17 points while Jake Tauer added 15, Lucas Gervais had 11 and Tony Nelson had 10. Nelson led in rebounds with six while Tauer led in assists with five.

Blake Schmitz led the way for the Rebels with 19 points while Dylan Johnson added 12 and Tyler Winter had 11. Dylan Johnson led in rebounds with seven while him and Schmitz led in assists with four each.

TMB will face RTR today at 7:15 p.m. while MCC will face Southwest Minnesota Christian on Monday at 7:15 p.m.

Kyle Chase and Carter Sneller led the way for the Sting with 14 points each while Cody Dahlager added 10 and Hunter Johnson had seven. Sneller led in rebounds with 12 while Sneller and Dahlager led in assists with four each.

Zach Durfee led the way for Dawson-Boyd with 33 points while Romell Horton added 15 and Micah Olson and Gauge Liebl each had six. Durfee led in rebounds with 13 while Horton, Olson and Liebl led in assists with two each.

Dawson-Boyd ends its regular season with a 16-8 record and will open Section 3A tournament play on Feb. 29 against No. 5 seed Renville County West at 12:30 p.m. in Montevideo.
