YOUTH HOCKEY: Marshall Bantam A begins season with pair of wins

MARSHALL — The Marshall Bantam A hockey team began their 30-game season with a pair of wins this past weekend. On Saturday, the Tigers Bantam A beat Fairmont by a score of 11-3. Zach Kramer led Marshall with three goals and an assist while Klayton Weller added two goals and Talan Plante, Joey Fossum, Shane Briffett, Sam Poff, Parker Schmitt and Max Schultz all chipped in a goal apiece. Gavin Welsh made 22 saves in net.

On Sunday, Marshall traveled to Luverne and earned a 6-0 victory. Ezra Maurice earned the shutout win on nine saves. Talan Plante had a pair of goals. Gavin Peterson, Shane Briffett, Max Schultz and Parker Schmitt also scored goals. Chase Mellenthin and Parker Schmitt both had a pair of assists.

Marshall Tigers Bantam A travels for a pair of away games this Saturday, playing at 10:45 a.m. in Litchfield vs LDC and playing at 3:45 p.m. in Paynesville vs. River Lakes.
