PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: Panthers open season with 68-56 victory over Sleepy Eye

SLEEPY EYE — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton boys basketball team opened its season at the Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s tournament with a 68-56 victory over Sleepy Eye on Friday.

Trevor Larson led the way for the Panthers with 26 points while Tony Nelson added 25 and Noah Swenhaugen had eight. Nelson led in rebounds with 17 while Lucas Gervais added 11 and Christian Wendland had seven. Jake Tauer, Larson and Gervais led in assists with four each.

TMB (1-0) will conclude tournament play today against Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s at 10 a.m.

SLEEPY EYE — The Murray County Central boys basketball team opened its season with a 71-45 loss to Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Friday.

Trevor Ackerman led the way for the Rebels with 15 points while Tyler Winter added 12 and Brayden Ahlers had seven. Kyler Deacon led in rebounds with five while Dylan Johnson added four. Deacon also led in assists with three while Johnson and Ackerman each added two.

MCC (0-1) will face Sleepy Eye today at 11:30 a.m.
