SMSU BASEBALL: SMSU announces fall award winners

MARSHALL — The Southwest Minnesota State baseball program recently announced its 2019 fall awards following the conclusion of fall practice and several intra-squad games.

Members of the 2019-20 team voted upon the awards for the fall season.

Senior shortstop Nathan Kuhn and junior first baseman Matt Bezdicek were named co-offensive MVP, junior right-hander Jeremiah Van De Steeg was named best pitcher, while Kuhn was named the team’s defensive MVP.

Junior outfielder Christopher Berg was named most improved position player, while senior Spencer Rudnik, senior Jeremy Stouffer and junior Spencer Schroeder were all named most improved pitchers.

Catcher Hunter Krommenhoek and infielder Karsten Grove were both named the squad’s best freshman position players, while Grove was also named the team’s best freshman pitcher.

Southwest Minnesota State opens practice for the 2020 season in early January.
