SMSU GOLF: SMSU concludes day one of Golden Bear Classic in eighth place
LAKE CITY – Junior Hannah Kohls carded an 8-over-par 80 on Monday to pace the Southwest Minnesota State University women’s golf team in the opening round of the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bear Classic held at The Jewel Golf Club.
SMSU shot a 54-over 342 and is currently in eighth place in the 13-team field. Augustana University is the team leader with a 15-over 303 and holds a 13 shot advantage over Nebraska-Kearney.
Kohls finished the opening round tied for 15th in the 85-player field. Augustana’s Hannah Hankinson is the individual leader following a round of 1-under 71.
SMSU sophomore Anna Davison is tied for 30th after carding a 10-over 82, freshman Sally Gallagher is tied for 48th following a 15-over 87, while freshman Courtni Frank rounded out SMSU’s team scoring with a 21-over 93. Freshman Natalie Bohnert was in the line-up for the first time this season and finished with a 102.
SMSU had a pair of individuals also compete on Monday with sophomore Anneke Weg shooting an 11-over 83, while Sydney Noel finished with a 109.
Today’s final round will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
