SMSU VOLLEYBALL: Mustangs to host ‘Late Show’ tonight

MARSHALL – The Southwest Minnesota State University volleyball team will host this year’s “Late Show” intrasquad scrimmage tonight at the PE Gym. The event, which begins at 7:30 p.m., is free and open to the public.

This year’s event will once again take place on the first evening of 2019 Gold Rush Days on campus. Students attending have a chance to participate in various contests and drawings to win prizes and show off their school spirit.

The scrimmage is the first chance for the public to get a look at this year’s squad, which is coming off another outstanding season.

SMSU returns 11 returning letter winners, including five starters from a 2018 team that finished with a 23-9 overall record and its 15th straight appearance to the NCAA Tournament.

The Mustangs open the season on Sept. 5-7 with four matches at the Michigan Tech Classic in Houghton. SMSU begins its 20-match NSIC season on Sept. 20 at UMary and opens its 10-match home schedule on Sept. 27 versus Northern State.
