COTTONWOOD – The Lakeview football team possesses the largest senior class of all area teams in 2019 and will look to use their built-in experience to help turn the page on last year’s 2-7 finish and begin a new chapter of excellence in Lakers football.

Leading the charge in this pursuit is first-year head coach Scott Hanson, who has set the bar high for his team and has goals of improving each and every day.

“We have a great group of upperclassmen with experience and leadership,” said Hanson. “We have depth on both defense, offense and special teams with a good kicking game. We have installed new offensive, defensive and special teams systems that the players have worked hard to learn over the summer camp. We have set the bar high and we will get better every day.”

Back under center for the Lakers will be senior Aaron Loe, who passed for over 1,100 yards and nine touchdowns in 2018. Loe’s go-to targets in seniors Billy Errington, Parker Hoffman, Will Grube and Carter Louwagie will also be making their return to the lineup in what should make for an explosive aerial attack. Senior Noah Jensen will likely be asked to step into the lead running back role with last season’s 700-yard rusher Elijah Sterner no longer with the team.

The Lakers will have their first chance to show off their new-look offense and defense when they take on Minnesota Valley Lutheran tonight. Looking ahead to the matchup and the rest of the season, Hanson wants his team to hold each other accountable and find joy in a new journey.

“We want our players to care about each other, be accountable to one another, and enjoy the journey,” said Hanson. “Our only goal is to get better everyday. We do those things and winning takes place.”
