MANKATO – The Marshall 14U Orange softball team earned second place at the Southern Star State Qualifier Tournament in Mankato this past weekend.

Marshall opened with victories over St. James and Lake Crystal on Saturday to advance to the winner’s bracket final on Sunday. Marshall defeated Sleepy Eye on Sunday morning to advance to the championship game, but Sleepy Eye later defeated Marshall twice to win the championship. With the championship game appearance, Marshall has qualified for the Minnesota Softball State Tournament next weekend in the Twin Cities. Marshall has won two tournaments and earned a pair of runner-up finishes in four tournaments this summer.
