LEGION BASEBALL: Mudcats fall against Willmar

WILLMAR — Willmar defeated the Marshall Mudcats 9-3 in Legion baseball action on Monday.

The two teams went back and forth through the first three innings. Willmar opened with a 2-0 lead after one ining, while Marshall tied it up in the second inning. Both teams added a run in the third inning to keep the game tied before Willmar took the lead for good in the fourth inning.

The Mudcats were held to just a pair of hits in the loss. Isaac Schmitt went 1 for 3 and scored a run, while Jordan Mernaugh went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Kaleb Welvaert got the start and allowed six runs (five earned) on nine hits with one walk and one strikeout.

The Mudcats will return to action this weekend at a tournament in Princeton.
