SMSU TRACK AND FIELD: Manteuffel places 21st in the shot put at NCAA DII Championships

KINGSVILLE, Texas – Southwest Minnesota State sophomore Rebecca Manteuffel concluded the 2019 track & field season on Saturday finishing in 21st place in the shot put at the NCAA Division II Championships hosted by Texas A&M, Kingsville.

Manteuffel, who finished eighth in the discus on Friday to become the program’s first NCAA All-American, recorded a mark of 14.06m during her third and final toss on Saturday to finish 21st out of 24 competitors. Her first throw was at 13.65m while her second toss was 13.07m. She did not advance to the nine-person final.

Lindsay Baker, a freshman from Ashland (Ohio), won the individual title with a toss of 16.49m.

Manteuffel, a native of Cologne, Minn., was making her second straight NCAA Outdoor Championship appearance. Last season she finished 18th in the discus. She also qualified earlier this spring for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the weight throw, where she finished 17th.
