SMSU ATHLETICS: Ben Servais named head strength and conditioning coach

MARSHALL – Southwest Minnesota State University Director of Athletics Chris Hmielewski has named Ben Servais as the department’s head strength and conditioning coach.

Servais, who begins his duties on June 3, comes to SMSU from Humboldt State University in Arcata, Calif., where he has served as the assistant strength and conditioning coach since 2013. During that time he also served as the strength and conditioning coordinator for the Student Recreation Center at HSU.

Since 2016, Servais also served as a lecturer in the HSU Kinesiology Department teaching kinesiology and strength and conditioning courses.

He has also worked as a physical therapy aide/exercise specialist at Results Physical Therapy and Training Center in Sacramento, Calif., and as a sports performance coach for Velocity Sports Performance in Dublin, Calif.

Servais is a NSCA certified strength and conditioning specialist and a USA Weightlifting Level 1 sports performance coach.

Servais earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology/exercise science from Humboldt State in 2011, while in 2015 he earned his master’s degree from HSU in kinesiology/exercise science.
