PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Vikings get tripped up by Jackson County Central

MARSHALL – The Minneota/Canby softball team fell to Jackson County Central 11-5 in the consolation bracket of the Section 3AA tournament on Saturday.

Lexi Sanow led the way for the Vikings with a 3 for 3 day at the plate with an RBI while Abby Hennen added a pair of hits and Sydney Larson and Madison Sorenson each had a hit and an RBI.

Larson took the loss in the circle, going six innings while allowing 11 runs on nine hits and striking out two.

Minneota/Canby ends its season with an 18-4 record and graduates four seniors in Larson, Emily Pohlen, Brooklyn Nelson and Abby Rangaard.

Section 3A baseball

YME 3, Canby 0

KMS 4, Canby 1

SUNBURG – The Yellow Medicine East baseball team split a pair of games in Section 3A tournament action on Saturday, defeating No. 5N Canby 4-0 before falling to No. 1N KMS 4-1.

Against Canby, Angel Jimenez led the way for the Sting with a 1 for 2 day at the plate with three RBI while Dalton Anderson had a hit and an RBI and Carter Sneller, Bennett Knapper and Cole Fischer each added a hit.

Jimenez earned the victory on the mound, going seven innings while allowing no runs on two hits and striking out five.

Jordan Ries and Riley Kockelman led the way for Canby with a hit apiece. Evan Stoks took the loss on the mound, going six innings while allowing four runs on five hits and striking out five.

Canby ends its season with a 5-7 record and graduates four seniors in Kockelman, Bryce Hansen, Nolan Harding and Stoks.

Against KMS, Sneller led the way for the Sting with a 1 for 3 day at the plate with an RBI while Fischer added a hit. Anderson took the loss on the mound, going 3.2 innings while allowing four runs on three hits and striking out one.

YME will face RCW on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in Montevideo.
