PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Marshall uses late offense to get past Pipestone, 7-1
PIPESTONE — A late offensive burst propelled the Marshall baseball team to a 7-1 win over Pipestone Area on Friday.
Kaleb Welvaert finished the day 3 for 4 with a double and three RBI. Cody Greve added a pair of hits in the win, while Matt Hmielewski was 1 for 3 with a double and two RBI.
Jack Bly struck out eight batters over six innings to earn the win.
Marshall (10-9) is scheduled to face Luverne today in the Big South Championship.

Jonah Hansen went 2 for 3 to lead RRC/WWG.

WABASSO — Renville County West earned a 5-4 win over Wabasso in baseball action on Friday.
The Jaguars took command of the game in the fifth inning, thanks in part to a two-run home run by Jacob Grund.
Ryan Liebl went 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored in the loss.
Wabasso travels to Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Tuesday for a doubleheader.

REDWOOD FALLS – The Minneota/Canby softball team wrapped up the regular season with a 6-1 victory over Redwood Valley on Friday.
Madison Sorenson led the way for the Vikings with a 2 for 4 day at the plate while Abby Hennen added a hit and an RBI and Kaylee Johnson, Emily Pohlen, Sydney Larson and Abby Rangaard each had a hit.
Larson earned the victory in the circle, going seven innings while allowing one run on three hits and striking out eight.
Minneota/Canby earned the No. 2 seed in the Section 3AA tournament and will face No. 7 Montevideo on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Minneota.
