MARSHALL – With a quick scribble of the pen, Cody Greve’s next step to his athletic career was complete.

The Marshall senior inked his National Letter of Intent on Thursday morning to play baseball at Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, surrounded by his family, teammates and coaches.

Greve said it was a little nervewracking, but was happy to have this day come and is excited for his next chapter.

“It’s kind of nervewracking, but I’m excited to make the next step in my career and hope it’s going to be great,” Greve said. “I’m excited for a new team, I love the guys that I play with now, but it’ll be nice to start a new family.”

The past few years, Greve has helped lead the way for the Tigers on the diamond in the infield. He hit .403 with 25 total hits and 19 RBI last season.

Greve added it was a long process, but the Blue Knights ultimately gave him the best chance to extend his career.

“They’re a very good, high-class baseball team and they gave me an offer I just couldn’t pass up that no one else did,” Greve said.

Greve said his coaches and teammates have had a tremendous impact on him and they’ve helped him every step of the way.

“They stuck in there with me and they were with me every step of the way and they just kept on pushing me to be the best player I could be,” Greve said.

Before he hits the field next year, Greve is currently wrapping up his final season with the Tiger baseball team. He said he’s hoping they can make a big push in the last few weeks and can make a deep run in the postseason before his closes his career at Marshall.

“I hope we start kicking it into high gear and every game is a learning experience, you just get better as you play,” Greve said. “I hope we go far into the playoffs or even go to state.”
