SMSU TRACK AND FIELD: SMSU ready for two-day meet at Northwestern College

MARSHALL – The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s and men’s outdoor track & field teams resume competition today and Saturday at Red Raider Open hosted by Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.

Today’s action will begin at 1 p.m. and will resume on Saturday at 9 a.m. at NWC’s De Valois Stadium.

SMSU last competed on April 6 at the Dordt College Invite with two first place finishes. On the men’s side, Adarius Gallon captured first place out of 22 in the long jump with a mark 6.70m.

For the SMSU women’s team, Rebecca Manteuffel had strong meet in both the discus and shot put setting program records. She broke her own school record in the discus to take home first place with a throw of 49.35m. She also earned a second place finish in the shot put with a school-record distance of 13.45m.

Following this weekend’s meet, SMSU will be in action on April 25-27 competing at both the Drake Relays and the Kip Janvrin Open hosted by Simpson College.
