MARSHALL – The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s tennis team heads to Minnetonka today to compete at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament held at Life Time Fitness Oakdale Village.

SMSU, which earned the No. 8 seed and is playing in the tournament for the first time since 2010, will face No. 1 seed Augustana University starting at 2 p.m. The winner will face either No. 4 seed Minnesota Duluth or No. 5 seed UMary on Sunday at 8 a.m. in the semifinals with the championship match set for 12 p.m. on Sunday.

SMSU closed the regular season with a 13-11 overall record including 3-8 in conference matches. The 13 victories is the program’s highest total since the 1992 season and is also its first winning season since 1992.

Augustana has won 110 straight NSIC regular season matches, with its last loss coming back on April 19, 2009, to Minnesota State.
