YOUTH BASKETBALL: Pacesetter tournament set for this weekend

REDWOOD FALLS - Over 100 youth basketball teams in grades 4-9 will be playing in the Pacesetter Region 3 Basketball Championships in Redwood Falls this weekend at Redwood Area Community Center, Redwood Valley Area High School and St. John’s Lutheran School.

Girls’ teams will be playing from: Barnesville, Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart, Cedar Mountain, Dassel Cokato, Eden Valley-Watkins, Jackson County Central, Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton, LCWM, Luverne, Minneota, New London-Spicer, New Ulm, Park Rapids, Redwood, Saint James, Sleepy Eye, Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s, St. Peter, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton, WWG and Yellow Medicine East.

Boys’ teams will be playing from: BLHS/SESM/Comfrey, Cedar Mountain-Morgan, CMCS Prinsburg, Dawson-Boyd, Dilworth Glyndon Felton, Eden Valley-Watkins, Hawley, Hutchinson, Jackson County Central, Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton, Lakeview, LCWM, MACCRAY, Madelia, Maple River, Marshall, Minneota, Minnesota Valley Lutheran, Montevideo, Mountain Lake/Comfrey, New Ulm, Paynesville, Plainview-Elgin-Millville, Redwood Valley, Sibley East, Sleepy Eye, Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s, Springfield, St. James, St. Joe’s/Waconia, Tracy-Milroy, Balaton, Willmar, Willmar CCS, Windom and WWG.

Games will tip off at 8:00 a.m. each day and finish in the early evening.

The Region 3 Playoff is a qualifying tournament for the Minnesota state youth tournaments in St. Cloud and Maple Grove in June.  The Pacesetter Basketball 5-state youth playoff system features state championships in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota, followed by an 8-team Great Five-State championship in Minneapolis, where each team will be able to play on the main Target Center floor.

Other Minnesota regional playoffs are being held in Rochester, Mankato, Hutchinson, Alexandria, Moose Lake, Grand Rapids/MIB, and Bemidji.  Other state championships are being held in Jamestown (ND), Huron (SD), Des Moines (IA), and Ripon (WI).
