SMSU GOLF: Mustangs finish seventh at SMSU Spring Invite

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The Southwest Minnesota State women’s golf team concluded play Tuesday with a final round score of 353 to finish with a two-round total of 133-over-par 709 to place seventh at the seven-team SMSU Invite held at the Wigwam Resort Red Course.

Western New Mexico won the team title with a 34-over 639, finishing nine shots ahead of second place Lindenwood (Mo.) (+72, 648). Brenda Dominguez from Western New Mexico won the individual title with a 10-over 154, finishing one shot ahead of teammate Shelby Turner.

Hannah Kohls shot SMSU’s best round today with a 10-over 82 and finished tied for 13th in the 44-person field with a score of 23-over 167. Anna Davison carded a 16-over 88 on Tuesday and finished tied for 31st with a score of 34-over 178. Anneke Weg placed 34th with a 37-over 181, after shooting a 21-over 93 today. Hallie Will finished with an 18-over 90 today to finish 36th overall at 39-over 183, while Katelyn Toner shot 107 today and finished with a two-day total of 217.

Southwest Minnesota State will continue play in Arizona on Friday and Saturday hosting the seven-team, 36-hole, SMSU Challenge at Coldwater Golf Club in Avondale. Schools joining SMSU include Bemidji State, Fort Hays State, Lindenwood, Nebraska-Kearney, Ottawa (Ariz.) and Stonehill (Mass.). Play begins both days at 1:30 p.m. CDT.
