PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Panthers hold off Lakers down the stretch, 60-46

COTTONWOOD — Tracy-Milroy-Balaton went on the road to pick up a 60-46 conference win over Lakeview on Friday.

Cassidy Smith led TMB with 18 points and seven assists.

Jadyn Lessman added 16 points and six rebounds in the win, while Samantha Edwards finished with 13 points.

Sierra Plotz scored 15 points to lead Lakeview.

TMB hosts Minneota on Monday while Lakeview hosts Russell-Tyler-Ruthton on Tuesday.

MINNEOTA — The top-ranked Minneota girls basketball team upended Yellow Medicine East 60-36 on Friday.

Abby Hennen scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Minneota.

Lydia Sussner added 10 points in the win.

Mackenzie Dyrdahl led YME with 12 points and seven rebounds.

Minneota travels to Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on Monday while YME hosts Canby on Monday.

Alex Sather led Dawson-Boyd with 20 points and 13 rebounds.

Mary Bothun also scored 20 points in the win, while Avery Bartunek added nine points, five rebounds and five assists.

Lauren Wulf sored 17 points to lead RCW.

SLAYTON — The Murray County Central boys basketball team used the long-range shot to defeat Westbrook-Walnut Grove 73-59 on Friday.

MCC connected on 12 3-pointers in the game, including five apiece from Nate Everson and Spencer Wajer.

Everson finished the game with 28 points, while Wajer tallied 17 points and four assists in the win.

Andrew Quade scored 18 points to lead WWG.

MCC travels to Fulda on Tuesday while WWG hosts Hills-Beaver Creek today.

TMB led 56-27 at halftime.

Trevor Larson connected on eight 3-pointers to score a game-high 24 points for TMB.

Jake Tauer added 17 points in the win.

Eli Fest scored 13 points to lead HLO.

TMB travels to Minneota on Tuesday.

Marshall 0

WILLMAR — Coming off a shutout win over Waseca a week ago, the Marshall Tigers girls hockey team went into Friday’s game in Willmar looking to start a win streak heading into the postseason. The Tigers were unable to do so, as Willmar blanked Marshall 5-0.

Willmar got things started early, with two first-period goals. The Cardinals held a 20-6 advantage in shots on goal through the first period.

The game tightened in the second period, as neither team could put the puck in the net.

Willmar’s offense came back alive in the third period with three girls to earn the 5-0 win. The Cardinals finished the game with 48 shots on goal compared to just 21 for Marshall.

Emma Klenken recorded 43 saves in the loss.

Marshall ends the regular season with a 16-6-3 record. Section 3A Tournament action begins on Thursday.

KERKHOVEN – The Canby boys basketball team fell to Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 61-47 on Thursday.

Will Varcoe led the way for the Lancers with 15 points while Riley Kockelman added 11 and Ethan Thovson had six. Matt Groen led in rebounds with seven while Kockelman led in assists with five.

Canby will face YME on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
