SMSU WRESTLING: SMSU wrestling falls to NSU in conference dual

ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Southwest Minnesota State wrestling team (0-2) fell to Northern State (5-1) 22-16 on Thursday night at the Barnett Center in the second conference matchup of the season.

SMSU returned to conference action for the first time since hosting St. Cloud State on Nov. 29. SMSU (0-2) fell to NSU (5-1, 3-1 NSIC) despite four Mustangs earning bout victories.

Cortez Arredondo earned the first victory of the night with a 9-1 major decision victory over NSU’s Walker Carr. Kegen Fingalsen and Dru Kuchenbaker took the next bouts by decision and medical forfeit.

The Mustangs dropped the next two bouts before Andrew Petersen finished the dual with a victory Harrison Townsend in a sudden victory.

Southwest Minnesota State continues competition on Saturday hosting Augsburg University at 2 p.m. in the PE Gym.
