SMSU WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL: Mustangs back in action this weekend in Nebraska

MARSHALL – The Southwest Minnesota State University wheelchair basketball team returns to action today and Saturday with four games in Omaha, Neb.

SMSU (4-8), which last played on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, splitting four games in Columbia, Mo., will begin play at the Nebraska-Omaha Tournament with a 1:45 p.m. game versus Texas-Arlington today. The Mustangs will then take on Nebraska-Omaha starting at 5 p.m.

Saturday’s action begins at 9 a.m. versus Wisconsin-Whitewater, while the final game is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. versus an opponent to be determined.

Walter Johnson leads the team in scoring this season averaging 24.5 ppg, while Ryan Kile is scoring 10.4 ppg. Johnson also leads the squad with 7.4 rpg and has dished out a team-high 69 assists.

The Mustangs are shooting 47 percent (288 of 607) from the field this season and 57 percent (55 of 97) from the free throw line.

SMSU returns home for a pair of games on Jan. 26 taking on the Rolling Timberwolves and Sioux Falls.
