SMSU WRESTLING: Mustangs ready for Augsburg Open

MARSHALL – The Southwest Minnesota State wrestling team returns to the mat today competing at the Augsburg University Auggie-Adidas Invite at Si Melby Hall in Minneapolis.

SMSU head coach Jesse Nelson is expecting 24 wrestlers to compete during the open which is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

The Mustangs opened the season last Saturday with more than 20 competing at the Dakota Wesleyan Open in Mitchell, S.D. Cortez Arredondo took home third place with a 5-1 record at 157 pounds, while Jack Ryan also finished 5-1 to earn third place at 197 pounds. Heavyweight Andrew Petersen also took home third place with a 4-1 record. Kegen Fingalsen went 4-2 to finish fifth at 165, while Dru Kuchenbaker also finished fifth at 174 with a mark of 4-2.

Southwest Minnesota State will open its 2018-19 dual season on Nov. 29 hosting St. Cloud State.
