SMSU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: SMSU hosts North Central in a mid-week contest today

MARSHALL – The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s basketball (2-2) plays a mid-week game against North Central today in the R/A Facility.

•After today’s game, SMSU then has 11 days off before the conference opener at home.

SMSU QUICK HITS

•SMSU head coach Tom Webb earned his 100th career win as a Division II head coach on Friday night with SMSU’s 91-83 victory over Wisconsin-Parkside.

•SMSU went 2-0 in the inaugural Ramada Classic this past weekend.

•Mustangs host the next four games before heading back on the road on Dec. 14 at St. Cloud State.

•SMSU opens conference play on Dec. 1 at 5:30 p.m. against Sioux Falls.

•SMSU was slated at 12th overall in the conference in the preseason poll and seventh in the South Division.

NEW FACES

•The Mustangs welcome four new players to the 2018-19 roster.

•Forward Morgan Frank transfers from North Iowa Area Community College where she played all 33 games with 14 starts in 2017-18.She averaged 5.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. She scored double figures in five games. Frank set out her first season with an injury.

•Freshman guard Jenna Borchers is a 2018 graduate of Dallas Center-Grimes where she was a four-year letter winner and all-conference recipient. She was named second team all-state, all-district, and all-region in her four-year tenure under coach Adam Jones.

•Freshman guard, Oliva Drummer, from St. Clair, scored more than 1,000 points and was a three-time all-conference recipient.

•Freshman forward Lily Schoknecht is a 2018 graduate of Anoka HS. She was a member of the 2016 state tournament team and named all-conference averaged 11 points and seven rebounds per game.
