SMSU SOCCER: Mustangs fall to No. 7 Bemidji State

BEMIDJI – The Southwest Minnesota State women’s soccer team fell 4-0 to No. 7 Bemidji State to conclude the road series weekend on Sunday afternoon.

BSU (10-0, 7-0 NSIC) outshot SMSU (3-6, 3-4 NSIC), 22 to six in the Beaver’s 10th consecutive victory. The Mustangs defeated Minnesota Crookston 4-1 on Friday night to open the road series, but were unable score or earn a set piece opportunity in the match this afternoon.

Rachael Norton scored her 10th and 11th goal this season for the Beaver’s and in doing so, tied Ashlee Ellefson for Bemidji State’s career goal record at 40.

Abbey Hoisington recorded a team-high two shots, neither on goal in 45 minutes of play. Jenna Meyer recorded five saves in her season 1-2 record.

Southwest Minnesota State (3-6, 3-4 NSIC) returns home on Friday to open homecoming weekend play with a 3 p.m. match against Minnesota State (7-1-1, 5-0-1 NSIC) and look to close the weekend on Sunday at 1 p.m. hosting Concordia-St. Paul (6-1-2, 3-1-2 NSIC).
