PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Tigers use strong attack in 3-0 win over Worthington

MARSHALL — Marshall defeated Worthington 3-0 (25-14, 25-8, 25-11) on Thursday.

Nine different Tigers recorded a kill in the match. Sofie Bock led Marshall with eight kills.

Logan Sherman added six kills and nine set assists in the win, while Rachel Schwarz recorded 12 set assists.

With the win, the Tigers clinched the Big South Western Division title after a perfect 6-0 record in division play.

Marshall (18-3) hosts St. Peter on Tuesday.

Brittany Erickson added seven kills in the loss, while Grace Woelber recorded 14 digs and 22 set assists.

WWG (11-12) will play in the Jimmy John’s Classic in Marshall this weekend.

Maddy Guetter led the Rabbits with 19 kills and 13 digs. Amanda Hoffman added eight kills in the win, while McKenna Nelson recorded five kills and 14 digs.

With the win, Wabasso (21-4) are Tomahawk Conference champions. It is the sixth consecutive year Wabasso has finished first in the conference.

The Rabbits will host Russell-Tyler-Ruthton on Monday.

SLAYTON — Due to a power outage in Slayton, action was suspended in Thursday night’s scheduled football game between Murray County Central and Wabasso.

The game will resume from where it left off — with 7:04 remaining in the first quarter — today at 2:30 p.m.
