Marshall boys coach Brian Leibfried said he was pleased with his runners on all levels and their ability to maintain their pack mentality throughout the meet.

“It was a great day overall for our team at all levels. We finished in first in the JH, JV and Varsity races as well as having the overall winner in each of the races. We talked a couple weeks ago about being patient and trusting in their training, and it was certainly great to see the times come down as evidence that things are working,” Leibfried said. “For the first time this season we had five guys under 18:00 and seven under 18:10. Our race plan was to let Zach run his race out in front and then try to pack it up with a large group to set the pace for the rest of the field. Zach ran a smart race and took the lead about half way through the race and would not look back. Quentin, Jenson, and Karter all finished in the top 8 had a great pack race along with Landon, Damian, and Nick Dunn who all made it in the top 14. In order to score low in our meets, we will have to continue this pack mentality. With a few weeks to go until we race on the same course again in the Big South Conference Meet, we certainly feel good about where we are and look forward to more improvements.”
