SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Marshall 15U Orange baseball team started the Mid-Summer Classic tournament in Sioux Falls, S.D. with a 13-6 victory over Worthington on Friday night.

Marshall Orange jumped quickly out of the gates, scoring eight runs in the top half of the second to lead 8-0. After a scoreless third, Worthington answered back with six runs of its own in the bottom of the fourth to cut the deficit to 8-6.

Marshall Orange responded quickly, though, getting a pair of runs across in the fifth to make it 10-6 before added three more in the top of the sixth to go on to win 13-6.

AJ Toulouse led the way for Marshall Orange with a 3 for 4 day at the plate with an RBI while Chase Douglas, Brock Schultz and Zach Allen all had a hit and an RBI apiece. Mitch Bouwman and Braden Meyer also had a hit for Marshall while Jacob Hughes, Spencer Wambeke, Benson Kuecker and Noah Blomme all had an RBI as well.

Bouwman earned the victory in relief for Marshall, going five innings while allowing six runs on nine hits and striking out seven.

Marshall Orange will continue tournament play today against an opponent that’s to be determined.
