MORRIS — Marshall defeated Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 11-4 on Friday.

Nick Klaith led the Tigers, going 4 for 5 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Klaith also got the win, striking out four batters over 4.2 innings.

COTTONWOOD — Dawson-Boyd defeated Lakeview 8-7 in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Friday.

Lakeview tried to come back in the seventh inning from an eight-run deficit, but could only score seven runs in the inning.

Mary Bothun pitched a complete game for the Blackjacks, striking out 13 in the win.

Trinity Kirckoff led Lakeview at the plate, going 3 for 4 with two RBI.

The Vikings collected just three hits in the loss, with Sydney Larson driving in Kaylee Johnson in the fourth inning for the lone run of the game.

Johnson, Larson and Brooklyn Nelson recorded the team’s three hits.

Minneota/Canby (3-3) travels to Russell-Tyler-Ruthton for a doubleheader on Monday.

Sanborn Invite

SANBORN — The Wabasso boys golf team finished third at an invite on Friday, finishing with a team score of 203.

Springfield won the event at 157, while New Ulm Cathedral finished with a 172.

Kody Kuehn led Wabasso with a 46. Justin Bernardy carded a 51 while Ryan Rohlik scored a 52. Jared Zollner completed the Wabasso score with a 54.

The Wabasso girls didn’t have enough players to register a team score.

Anna Rohland carded a 50 for the Rabbits, while Gabby Welch finished at 53.

GOLF

Tyler Invite

TYLER – Five area schools competed at Tyler Golf Club on Thursday.

Minneota won the boys invite with a team score of 170. Lakeview finished at 172, while Canby was a stroke back with a 173.

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton recorded a team score of 192, while Tracy-Milroy-Balaton finished at 261.

Nolan Boerboom of Minneota finished with the low round of the day at 38. Trent Esping added a 42, while Tyler Myhre and Mitchell Rost carded 45s.

Jarrett Geihl finished second individually and was Lakeview’s top golfer with a round of 39. Aaron Loe was two strokes back at 41 while Payton Kvistad carded a 45. Cole Arends tallied a round of 47 while Jared Stevens added a 48.

Leading Canby was Jake Wagner, who carded a 40. Jacob Crowser and Will Varcoe added 44s, while Payton Viessman finished at 45.

Andrew Williams led RTR at 46. Boone VanOverbeke added a 47, while Chase Christensen finished at 48. Jack Kerr completed the RTR team score with a 51.

Austin Axford carded a 52 to lead TMB. Mitchell Benson recorded a round of 60, while Parker Hinrich added a 65. Chase DeWitte completed the TMB score with an 84.

Minnesota also won the girls invite, tallying a score of 193.

Hendricks finished second at 218, while RTR recorded a 226 and TMB finished at 254. Canby and Lakeview did not have enough individuals for a team score.

Brooklynn Downing led Minneota with a 45. Laura Knutson finished second at 47 followed by Carolyn Hoffman at 49 and Jeren Rost at 52.

Rylie Hess led RTR with a 51, followed by Allie Christianson at 53 and Skylar Borreson with a 56. Ainsley carded a 66 to round out the RTR team score.

TMB was led by Kallie Benson, who carded a 55. Megan Schmitt finised with a 59 followed by Reilly McConnell at 66 and Cora Leonard at 74.

Siranda Chitthong of Lakeview led all girls golfers with a 41. Kaitlin Fischer added a 53 for the Lakers, while Kennar Wee finished at 66.

Mallary Fink led Canby with a 52, followed by Jala Hulzebos at 54 and Abi Morris with a 61.

Tracy Invite

TRACY – Five area schools competed at Tracy Country Club on Thursday.

Minneota led the boys teams with a 173, followed by Canby at 179 and Lakeview with a 185. RTR finished at 204 while TMB totaled 275.

Nolan Boerboom led Minneota with a 42. Trent Esping added a 43, while Tyler Myhre and Mitchell Rost added 44s.

Jake Wagner and Jacob Crowser led Canby with 43s. Dylan Bach added a 44 while Payton Viessman finished at 49.

Aaron Loe led Lakeview at 44 while Jarrett Geihl added a 45 and Jared Stevens finished at 46. Cole Arends completed the Lakeview score with a round of 50.

RTR was led by Andrew Williams, who carded a 47. Jack Kerr added a 50 while Boone VanOverbeke finished at 52 and Chase Christensen ended with a 55.

Allie Christianson led RTR with a 51, followed by Rylie Hess at 55, Skylar Borresen with a 59 and Ainsley Novak at 62.

Megan Schmitt carded a 56 to lead TMB, followed by Reilly McConnell at 63 and Kallie Benson at 72. Cora Leonard completed the TMB score at 76.

Siranda Chitthong paced Lakeview at 42 while Kaitlin Fischer added a 56.

MINNEOTA – The Minneota baseball team used some late-inning heroics to earn a 7-6 victory over Renville County West on Thursday.

Down 6-3, the Vikings scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning – highlighted by a walk-off hit from Jaymes Moon – to cap off the comeback win.

Moon finished the game 2 for 2 with three RBI while Brant Buysse and Teddy Pesch each went 2 for 4.

Jacob Hennen earned the victory in relief, pitching 3.1 innings while allowing no runs on three hits and striking out four.

Minneota (4-1) will face Adrian on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

MINNEOTA — The Milroy Yankees scored three runs in the ninth inning to defeat the Minneota Mudhens 9-8 on Friday.

Matt Bauer led the Yankees, going 4 for 5 with a pair of doubles and four RBI.

Brian Dolan, Braydin Kvistero and Nathan Deutz added two hits apiece in the win.

Deutz struck out the side in the ninth inning to clinch the win for Milroy.

Jake Leighton led Minneota, going 3 for 5 with three RBI and a run.

Milroy (1-0) hosts Dawson tonight while Minneota (1-1) travels to Tracy this afternoon.
