PREP TRACK AND FIELD: Marshall track holds first home meet

MARSHALL – The Marshall boys and girls track team held their first home meet of the season on Monday, as six teams participated.

On the boys side, Waconia took first with a team score of 143 while Marshall placed second with a score of 128. Willmar took third (122) while Redwood Valley took fourth (68). Sioux Falls Roosevelt took fifth (15) while Lakeview placed sixth (12) to round out the results on the boys side.

On the girls side, Marshall took first place with a team score of 132.5 while Waconia placed second with a score of 116. Willmar took third (77) while Redwood Valley took fourth (72). Lakeview took fifth (59) while Sioux Falls Roosevelt placed sixth (31.5) to round out the results on the girls side.

100 Meters

On the boys side, Marshall was led by Gabe Raini, who placed 13th with a run of 12.37 seconds while Chinonso Nwakama placed 28th and Matthew Scott placed 30th with times of 12.95 and 12.97 seconds, respectively. Lakeview was led by Kilynn Taylor, who placed third with a time of 12.04 seconds while Kailen French placed ninth with a time of 12.25 seconds and Jackson Klocow placed 31st with a time of 12.99 seconds.

On the girls side, Sierra Plotz led the Lakers finishing third with a time of 13.52. Also finishing in the top ten for the Lakers was Destiny Bahn who came in ninth crossing the line at 14.10. The Tigers were led by Saphi McFarquhar who finished in seventh with a time of 14.00.

200 Meters

On the boys side, Marshall was led by Seth Cattoor, who placed fourth with a time of 24.12 seconds while Scott finished 15th and Andrew Williams finished 18th with times of 26.18 and 26.28 seconds, respectively. Lakeview was led by French and Taylor, who placed seventh (24.69) and eighth (24.75), respectively, while Lucas Hodges placed 25th with a time of 26.87 seconds.

On the girls side, Olivia Butterfield led the way for the Lakers finishing in fifth place with a time of 29.37. For the Tigers, Maysa Gillingham finished in seventh place with a time of 29.56, not too far behind her was McFarquhar who finished in ninth with a time of 29.96.

400 Meters

On the boys side, Garrett Hoff led the way for Marshall with a first-place finish at 52.56 seconds. Williams placed sixth with a time of 57.86 seconds while Eli Cole placed ninth with a time of 59.39 seconds. Lakeview was led by Klocow with a 10th-place finish at 59.92 seconds while Noah Schmidt placed 12th with a time of 1:00.35.

On the girls side, Butterfield found her way to a second place finish with a time of 1:04.27 and leading the way for the Tigers was Gillingham who finished fifth with a time of 1:06.54

800 Meters

On the boys side, Owen Holmberg led the way for Marshall with a seventh-place finish at 2:18.85 while Ivan Celedon placed 15th with a time of 2:29.81. Lakeview was led by Leo Spidsoe, who placed 11th with a time of 2:23.12 while Schmidt placed 18th with a time of 2:35.98.

On the girls side, Marshall’s Nichole Sample and Kate Bucher finished in the top two spots, coming in at 2:31.27 and 2:34.44 respectively.

1600 Meters

On the boys side, Marshall had a clean sweep, taking the top three spots. Zach Matzner took first with a time of 4:39.39 while Eli Salisbury placed second (4:42.15) and Nicholas Kayser placed third (4:49.61). Lakeview was led by Spidsoe and Nick Fenske, who placed 19th (5:25.43) and 20th (5:35.29), respectively, while Evan Gregoire placed 29th with a time of 7:06.48.

On the girls side, the Tigers had an impressive showing in the mile run with junior Kaia Sueker finishing in the top spot coming in at 5:31.54 followed by Jersey Leyson with a time of 5:40.11. The Lakers Alexia Lienemann finished seventh coming in at 6:07.39

3200 Meters

On the boys side, Marshall was led by Tsukasa Yano, who placed seventh with a time of 11:28.82 while Tanner Fales took ninth (11:45.47) and Simon Zahrbock took 10th (12:12.14), respectively. Lakeview did not have any runners in the event.

On the girls side, Morgan Radel found her way to a first place finish with a time of 11:42.61 with teammates Natalee Sample and Bellamy Bukalski finishing in the third and fourth spot, clocking in at 11:50.99 and 11:51.74.

110m Hurdles

On the boys side, Marshall was led by Bryce Paulsen, who placed third with a time of 16.46 seconds while Logan Rekedal placed seventh with a time of 19.37 seconds and Ryan Schroeder placed 17th with a time of 24.08 seconds. Lakeview was led by Marcus Peppersack, who placed 15th with a time of 21.97 seconds.

On the girls side, Marshall’s Sydney Blomme led the way finishing in first with a time of 17.01 followed by Mikayla Chesley who finished third with a time of 17.79 and Natasha Reinsma finishing seventh at 18.59. Lakeview’s Stephanie Pickthorn finished ninth with a time of 18.85.

300m Hurdles

On the boys side, Marshall was led by Paulsen, who placed second with a time of 41.47 seconds while Rekedal placed 10th (50.51) and Levi Rekedal placed 16th with a time of 58.36 seconds. Lakeview did not have anyone in the event.

On the girls side, Blomme saw more success and finished in the top spot again, finishing with a time of 48.00 followed by Alison Mortier who finished fourth with a time of 52.46. Pickthorn finished second for the Lakers with a time of 51.51.

4×100 Relay

On the boys side, the Marshall team of Raini, Alex Ormberg, Austin Morris and Carter Clark placed sixth with a time of 55.70 seconds. Lakeview’s team of French, Hodges, Klocow and Taylor placed third with a time of 47.72 seconds.

On the girls side, for the Lakers, the team of Trysta Schuler, Payton Timm, Sierra Plotz and Destiny Bahn finished in fourth with a time of 54.98 followed by the Tigers, the team made up by Danya Estrada, Lauren Carver, Adrienne Simpson and Mikayla Chesley who finished sixth with a time of 55.52.

4×200 Relay

On the boys side, the Marshall team of Garret Hoff, Billy Giannelli, Catoor and Issac Fischer placed second with a time of 1:36.03.

On the girls side, Marshall found its way to a third place finish, the team of Estrada, Carver, Simpson and Chesley finished in the time of 2:00.41.

4×400 Relay

On the boys side, Marshall had another clean sweep, taking the top three spots. The team of Paulsen, Hoff, Josh Deines and Fischer took first (3:33.49) while the team of Cole Remme, Trey Weber, Brett VanKeulen and Damian Caron placed second (3:42.59) and the team of Quentin Blomme, Jenson Meyer, Zach Devaan and Karter Wasberg took third (3:43.86).

On the girls side, the Tigers dominated and came out on top, the team of Blomme, Leyson, Bellamy Sukalski and Sample finished with a time of 4:18.26.

4×800 Relay

On the boys side, the Marshall team of Meyer, Weber, Caron and Remme took second with a time of 8:42.63 while the team of Salisbury, Kayser, Blomme and Fischer placed fourth with a time of 9:10.95.

On the girls side, both of Marshall’s relay teams finished in the top three, with the first team of Sueker, Radel, Nichole Sample and Natalee Sample finishing in the top spot with a time of 9:40.21 and the second team of Leyson, Sukalski, Bucher and Alison Mortier who finished third with a time of 10:18.51.

High Jump

On the boys side, Marshall was led by Brock Pruszynski (6-00), while Matt Onken, Deines and Sam Rademacher all tied for second (5-10). Lakeview was led by Taylor, who placed ninth (5-06) while French placed tied for 13th (5-00).

On the girls side, Lakeview’s Plotz finished first jumping 5-02 followed by LeeAnn Stensrud coming in fifth jumping 4-10. The Tigers Jenna Mortier finished just below Plotz finishing second jumping 5-00 with teammates Chesley and Araya Rock tying for ninth jumping 4-08.

Pole Vault

On the boys side, Marshall was led by Giannelli and Jonah Bader who tied for eighth with a vault of 9-00).

On the girls side, for Marshall, Savannah Boedigheimer finished in fifth vaulting 7-06 followed by McFarquhar who finished in a tie for sixth, vaulting 7-0. The Tigers also had Marah Hart and Taliya McFarquhar tie for tenth place, vaulting 6-06. Lakeview’s Savannah Rausch also found herself in a tie for tenth vaulting 6-06.

Long Jump

On the boys side, Marshall was led by Pruszynski, who took first with a jump of 20-05 while Onken took third (19-04) and Scott placed 12th (17-02). Lakeview was led by Hodges, who placed 29th (15-02.75).

On the girls side, Lakeview’s Pickthorn was the Lakers highest finisher, finishing second, jumping 16-00.50. Bahn and Plotz also finished in the top ten for the Lakers, finishing fifth with a jump of 14-07.50 and seventh jumping 14-05.25. Jenna Mortier was Marshall’s highest finisher, finishing ninth with a jump of 14-02.

Triple Jump

On the boys side, Marshall was led by Onken, who took third with a jump of 38-04.75 while Kongmeng Vue took eighth (33-01.50) and Benjamin Schuch took ninth (32-11), respectively.

On the girls side, Pickthorn saw more success in the triple jump as she finished in first with a jump of 32-06 just ahead of Marshall’s Jenna Mortier who jumped a 31-07.50 finishing second. LeeAnn Stensrud was the Lakers second highest placer, finishing seventh, jumping 29-05.50.
