Lenei Estrada added 15 points in the win, while Hannah Meier finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Marshall coach Dan Westby said Fairmont’s size advantage gave them matchup problems in the first half, but felt they adjusted nicely in the second to earn a hard-fought win.

“It was another hard-fought game. Fairmont came at us with a big lineup which gave us a matchup problem,” Westby said. “In the second half, we did a better of dealing with their size and also made some free throws down the stretch.”

Westby said defensively they mixed things up between man-to-man and a zone, which helped create some pressure in the second half.

“We did something we haven’t done much of and switched between man and a zone,” Westby said. “That helped with our defensive pressure in the second half.”
