At a glimpse: Taking a look at Marshall’s football schedule

MARSHALL – A year ago the Marshall Tigers made their second straight trip to the state tournament. The Tigers finished the regular season with a perfect 8-0 record. The Tigers defeated Hutchinson, 17-14 in the section championship to punch their ticket to state.

At the state tournament the Tigers lost to eventual state champions, Benilde-St. Margaret’s, 44-34 in the semifinals.

The Tigers graduated 12 seniors from last year’s team, including two Division I commits, Blaise Andries (University of Minnesota) and Reece Winkelman (South Dakota State University).

The Tigers will be led by an experienced and talented backfield. Senior quarterback, Trey Lance, and senior running back, Jefferson Lee give the Tigers a dynamic duo in the backfield.

Marshall will kickoff their quest for a third straight trip to the state tournament on Sept. 1, against Albert Lea. Albert Lea finished last season with a 2-6 record.

The Tigers will play their home opener on Sept. 8, against Belle Plaine. Marshall defeated Belle Plaine at home last year, 45-7.

Following a road date with Worthington, the Tigers return home for two games against New Ulm and Waseca. The Tigers will take on New Ulm on Sept. 22, and Waseca on Sept. 29. The Tigers defeated New Ulm a year ago 58-14. They defeated the Blue Jays 42-7.

Following the two-game homestand the Tigers will hit the road for a pair of away games. The Tiger will play in Saint Peter on Oct. 6. The Saints finished last season with a 1-7 record.

The following week the Tigers will play their final road game of the season against Tri-City United. Marshall blanked Tri-City United last year, 49-0.
