NCAA BASKETBALL: Tyson Ward reaches 1,000 points in Bison win

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Tyson Ward had 21 points as North Dakota State University easily beat Mayville State University 93-53 on Thursday night.

Ward scored 17 points in the first half to top 1,000 points for his NDSU career.

Tyree Eady had 13 points for the Bison (1-1). Sam Griesel added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Tyler Witz had 11 points for the home team.

Simon Ramirez had 15 points for the Comets, an NAIA school.

North Dakota State matches up against Cal Poly at home on Monday.

Peru State 58

BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) — Douglas Wilson registered 13 points and eight rebounds as South Dakota State University easily defeated Peru State College 86-58 on Thursday night.

David Wingett and Matt Dentlinger had 12 points apiece for South Dakota State (2-0). Alex Arians had seven rebounds for the hosts.

Devon Colley had 21 points for the Bobcats. He also had seven turnovers but only two assists. Noah Vasa added three blocks.

South Dakota State takes on Cal State Bakersfield on the road on Saturday.

UND 86, Crown 61

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — De’Sean Allen-Eikens had 22 points, Filip Rebraca added 20 and grabbed 11 rebounds and the University of North Dakota easily defeated Division III-member Crown College 86-61 in a season opener on Thursday night.

Allen-Eikens grabbed eight rebounds and made six assists but had seven turnovers for the Fighting Hawks. Marlon Stewart had 12 points and seven rebounds.

Gunnar Ledin and Timothy Wendel scored 14 points apiece for the Storm, which played it as an exhibition game.

North Dakota plays Gonzaga University on the road on Tuesday.
