The public is invited to attend one of three open houses to learn more about a 2016 project to construct passing lanes on Highway 23 between Willmar and Interstate 90.
The Marshall open house will be from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at the Marshall-Lyon County Library (Community Room), 201 C St.
There is no formal presentation planned; project staff will be available to discuss the project one-on-one. Interested individuals are encouraged to attend to learn about proposed passing lane locations, project schedule, next steps, construction and phasing.
The Minnesota Legislature created the Corridors of Commerce program in 2013, setting aside $300 million, which became available July 1, 2014 to help improve freight movement and mobility. That money will fund 10 projects, five of which will start this year. For more information on the Corridors of Commerce program, including a comprehensive list of projects being funded through this project statewide, visit www.mndot.gov/corridorsofcommerce.
Representatives from the Minnesota Department of Transportation and project consultant Short Elliot and Hendrickson, Inc. will be available at the meetings to answer questions. The meetings are an opportunity for the public to get an overview of the project and view preliminary designs.
