Scouts receive religious emblem
Six scouts from Troop and Pack 238 will receive the Catholic Religious Emblem in Scouting during the 10 a.m. Mass Sunday at Holy Redeemer Church. Those earning the award are the following: Ad Altare Dei Carter Johnson and Christian Johnson, Troy Timmerman; Pope Pius XII Ryan Versaevel; Parvuli Dei Joshua Bauer and Charlie Wyffels.
These individuals can be congratulated afterward in Carlin Hall where the Scouts will have their annual Boy Scout pancake breakfast. The breakfast runs from 8 a.m. to noon. They are serving sausage, eggs and all you can eat pancakes. They have special toppings for the pancakes - chocolate chips, sprinkles, whipped topping, blueberry syrup and maple syrup.
The breakfast helps to cover costs for the Boy Scout Summer Camp.
Catholic United Financial Raffle at Holy Redeemer School
Holy Redeemer students are selling raffle tickets with $50,000 worth of prizes. HRS has joined with 84 other Catholic schools in selling tickets. Holy Redeemer keeps 100 percent of the money it brings in because St. Paul-based Catholic United Financial covers the entire cost of prizes and materials. Every $5 ticket buys you a chance to win a 2014 Honda CR-V or $25,000 cash, $5,000 vacation packages, cool technology gear and more.
Along with the revenue it receives, Holy Redeemer is also in the running to win a $3,500 grant from Catholic Unite Financial if HRS is one of the top three performing schools (based on tickets sold per student).
The top selling student at each of the 85 schools will also win a Kindle Fire HD and the top classroom, a pizza party. To purchase a ticket, call HRS at 532-6642. Ticket sales continue until March 1.
